Mr. Coffman hasn’t seen “Transformers.” He said he just liked how the special-edition Camaro looked — and that only 1,500 are to be produced. He traded in a Chevy Monte Carlo for the new car. “Driving by myself, I didn’t need one of those big cars anymore.” he said. “I wanted a sports car.” He has owned 35 to 40 cars over his life-time, mostly GM.
No word on whether he will be doing any racing with the new car.
In a survey produced by Cars.com, 30% of consumers reported that they had no intention of buying a car until the just ended “Cash for Clunkers” program was announced. Many said the program was too good to pass up. The program had the biggest impact on younger drivers, where 34% said they purchased a car because of the program.
The results dramatically increased sales for the Big 3 automakers, who are now reporting lowered sales due to the lack of a government incentive. The car makers are now increasing advertising to boost sales going into the holidays. GM reported they are gearing up for higher advertising expenses (and hoped for sales) in the 4th quarter. Ford is hoping to drive greater sales with the New Taurus model set for the 2010 model year.

Oil prices closed at $71 today after getting close to the $72 a barrel price. Economists say that increased demand is impacting the inventory of oil which in turn is increasing the price. Expectations are that the price could go to $80. But on the contrary side, a higher price of Oil could stabilize or reduce oil demand, and the resulting price of Oil may not go higher.
The price of a barrel was around $45 at the beginning of 2009. After almost six months Oil has risen over 50%. This kind of increase could jeopardize the US recovery depending on what happens in the future
